Photo Essay: Ode to Snow Play

Snowball

by Shel Silverstein

I made myself a snow ball as perfect as could be.
I thought I’d keep it as a pet and let it sleep with me.
I made it some pajamas and a pillow for it’s head.
Then, last night it ran away.
But first — it wet the bed.

Woosh!

Mystery Critter #55

IMG_1604.JPG

Can you believe this is our 55th case together, nature detectives?! Time flies when you are having fun (and talking critters!).

So put on your thinking caps and let’s get to it! And remember — no cheating. ;-)

CRITTER CLUES:

  • I may be small, but I have a lot to say.
  • I find tree sap delicious!
  • I’m not something you can see any old time you want.
  • Some have told me I have bulging eyes, which while true, really is quite rude to say, if you think about it.

So, what am I?

Make your guess then go to eNature for the answer and more interesting facts.

Did you get it right?

If not, no worries. You will have another chance next week!

You will hear this Mystery Critter long before you see it. What critters can you spot in your neck of the woods this weekend? Be sure to tell us!

And don’t forget! Join the Wildobs community and share your wild adventures with the world.

Mystery Critter #50

Life through a lens

I can’t believe it — we’re on our 50th Mystery Critter Game!! Thanks for stopping by each week to play.

So, let’s get to it. And remember, no cheating! ;-)

CRITTER CLUES:

  • I am large and black & white
  • I am a conservation success story
  • I sometimes make my home on a beaver dam
  • You may not see me in person, but adults and children alike recognize me

So, what am I?

Make your guess then go to eNature for the answer and more interesting facts.

Did you get it right?

If not, no worries. You will have another chance next week!

So, unplug and go spend some time outdoors this weekend. Here in The States we get an extra day, so make good use of it!

And don’t forget! Join the Wildobs community and share your wild adventures with the world.

And, thanks to my good friend and Not-So-Mystery Critter, @MrUku, I give you this great video.

Can’t help but sing along…

Have a safe and fun-filled weekend, all!
