So here’s the thing — sometimes, I just can’t get my shit together bring myself to blog. It’s really that simple. Sometimes I let life, laziness, or anything slightly shiny distract me from this site. I would say, “bad guru” save for one thing: life is meant for living. So forgive my absence, but know it won’t be my last. Sometimes I will suck at being a blogger, and I am 100% OK with that.
Interestingly enough, the thing that led me back here was a random tweet by someone who stumbled across an old post of mine, 10 Thoughts on Restoring Childhood. It picked up quite a bit of momentum, and people were really kind about the post. Again.
So, back to putting issues related to today’s childhood out into the universe on a semi-regular basis. Wish me luck! And in the meantime, watch this fabulous video out of the UK, which certainly mirrors what is going on here in the US.

Hiya Bethe,
Good to see you back! You know I always enjoy reading your posts. This particular quote got to me:
“A child outside doing normal things has become abnormal.” ~ Stephen Moss
So sad that it is that way, but it’s true. Kids should be out having adventures, getting dirty, having fun, and exploring the great outdoors. I know I did as a kid and I try to get my kids doing some of those same things.
Look forward to seeing you pop in now and again.

Thanks, Tara! I know, that quote really gets me too. So glad that you and other parents across the globe are consciously making the decision to make sure your children get outside, play, and have time to simply be kids. Well done! Hugs- Bethe
Ah, you make me laugh Beth! You are a breath of fresh air with your ‘tell it like it is’ approach! Absolutely love the video and will be sharing this post to my FB page! Cheers, Karen.

Bethe, I love that video. Will be good to use when we’re training on reasonaable risk.
Great vdo clip, will try and share it. Am an outdoor play mum too and have a 3yr old daughter who is happy to be muddy, wet, walk on logs, explore and watch bugs and beasties. Wish there were more of us.
