Play Again: Enough is Enough

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”    ~ Albert Einstein

As readers of this blog know, I am a passionate advocate for unplugging childhood and fostering a connection to nature. As a vocal part of both the Children & Nature and Play movements, I am thrilled that Play Again is coming out to help further open the eyes of parents and educators world-wide.

Help spread the word, and encourage your friends and family to see this film when it comes out.

Join the movement — after all, real change only comes when we all take responsibility for our own actions and raise our voices to say, “enough is enough.”

To take a broader look at this issue, give this article a read.

7.5 hours a day in front of electronic screens (Keiser Family Foundation, 2010). ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Let’s take back childhood.

Mystery Critter #48

P1300124

It’s baaa-ack!

After a mini vacation last week, the Mystery Critter has agreed to join us again. And, I’ve been told — to send a special hello to @ConsciousShopper @OCPlayParks’ kiddos!

So, without further ado, let’s put on our thinking caps and play. And remember — no cheating! ;-)

CRITTER CLUES:

  • I munch on butterflies, bees & caterpillars (yum!)
  • I can be hard to spot
  • I live in meadows, but you can also find me in your yard
  • Originally from Europe, I was accidentally introduced to North America in 1899
  • I am solitary

So, what am I?

Make your guess then go to eNature for the answer and more interesting facts.

Did you get it right?

If not, no worries. You will have another chance next week!

Whether you spot today’s Mystery Critter or not, there is always something amazing to see outdoors. Remember, you don’t have to venture far to be dazzled by wildlife. Just step outside with an eye for adventure — Mother Nature has something great waiting for you and the kids in your world.

And don’t forget! Join the Wildobs community and share your wild adventures with the world.

PS: This video of hummingbirds and how they can now film them is amazing! Enjoy!

Wow, what a week. This blogger is in need of some F-U-N! How about you?!

Today, I give you a  mini round-up of some great ideas from friends around the web. Just a few resources to help inspire us to get ourselves and the children in our world off the sofa and out into nature — this weekend and beyond!

WHY NOT:

Remember, it doesn’t matter what you do — just get outside and reconnect with your wild side!
