Ahhhhhhh, can you feel it? It’s the weekend, which means it’s time to power down and recharge your play batteries!
Kids and adults alike need to let their hair down, use their outside voices, and PLAY!
This weekend, listen to some of my very smart friends from around the web.
Why not…
- Take a cloud walk! Download a free book from Jane Kirkland to help guide your exploration.
- Make a little spring by forcing branches. Why wait?!
- Collect pine cones and make a bird feeder. Let the Little Humbugs show you how!
As always, it doesn’t matter what you do, just make time to reconnect with nature and feast on FUN!
Now if you will excuse me, I have a pine cone to find…

Oooo, a cloud walk! Imagine if you could, I mean really could, cloud walk. Would it be bouncy or sticky or wet or fluffy…..
In the wilderness knowing the clouds and the sky can be a lifesaver, predicting changing weather. I’ve always been fascinated by clouds and their wonderful names – cumulus, nimbus (isn’t that Harry Potter’s broomstick!)….
Lovely ideas Bethe

I didn’t know you could force branches. I’m stealing some Forsythia branches from my mom’s house today!
Thanks Bethe for including the pine cone hunt-it really is a lovely way to get kids out looking for natures treasure.
I’m off to snip some Forsythia branches -we have a large bush in the front and never thought of forcing.
Karen – Just asked the Sam and Jasmine what they thought it would be like to walk on the clouds-Sam answered Fluffy, Jasmine thought it may tickle.
Enjoy your pine cone hunt Bethe!
Great ideas — in fact, we just made pine cone bird feeders last weekend. This weekend we’ll be heading to the school garden to mow, weed wack & prep for spring planting. The kids love the chance to be with friends in this special wild place.
