Frolic Friday: Terrific Trees Edition

South River Street II

Happy Frolic Friday! It’s time to put on your sneakers or hiking boots, and get out there and enjoy some much-needed time in nature. This weekend, make sure to make time away from chores and errands to play and recharge your batteries.

Why not…

As always, it doesn’t matter what you do, just get outside and play this weekend. Mother Nature is waiting…

Now if you will excuse me, I am off to find the world’s most perfect maple leaf.

See ya outside! ~ The Grass Stain Guru

  1. Good suggestions Bethe. And you know I love to playoutdoors, but true confession time – it’s going to be 45 degrees and raining all weekend where I am and I’m kinda looking forward to being stuck indoors for a change. Just for a day.

Do I get to keep my play badge? I promise to play a board game.

  2. I’m with Robin. It’s cold and very damp and rainy. The puppies need to go several times a day, but that may be all I manage this weekend.

  3. Bethe

I hear ya, ladies! Cold & rainy here, too – but perfect for a muck around the farmers market for fall goodies to cook up a storm. :o ) Happy weekend! – Bethe

  4. I loved making the leaf rubbings when I was a child and my younger children do not. We have created several this month in an effort to help teach colors. It is fun and using different colors teaches.

We are in SE GA and it is still hot here so we do not have any beautiful trees like in the photo above.

  5. Apparently I’m the lucky one. It’s dry here in NE Kansas and warmer than it was earlier in the week. I’ve still got my eyes on the maples every single day. I am really enjoying fall, though my joy is touched with just a bit of sadness that the trees will soon be bare and the green in the views I love will diminish as winter comes. I’m getting out my knitting needles though, drinking cups of tea with friends, and looking forward to hot chocolate after cold walks when it really gets cold.

  6. I love soup and the fall colors. It will be 86 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday. We’ll most definitely be frolicking outside enough for everybody.

  11. I did it! I hugged trees, it’s fun! Especially if you do a bark rubbing for your tree book. :) I love Colorado’s mountain pine trees — they smell like vanilla. Do you know why that is? YUMMMMM.

Did you take this beautiful photo?

  15. I love trees. The idea of introducing your children to trees is grate. Have them hug them to show respect and appreciation is actually a grate idea. If you let kids alone they often vandalize trees and it is truely sad. I rather my child be characterized as a tree hugger than a vandalizing hoodlum. I wish I had a bigger yard so I could get my fill of tree plantings. I especially enjoy having my own fruit trees in the backyard.
