Mystery Critter #23

bird watcher

As I mentioned yesterday, this weekend was just made to get out and celebrate the great outdoors. So my nature detectives, put on your thinking caps and let’s get to it. See if you can crack today’s case!

CRITTER CLUES:

  • You will find me among the leaf litter — if you are quick and lucky;
  • I am diurnal;
  • My habitat is forests and forested grasslands;
  • Once I lay my eggs, I abandon the nest; and
  • My favorite food is insects and spiders.

What am I? Make your guess, and then go here for the answer and more interesting facts. Did you get it right?! If not, no worries — you’ll have another chance next week!

You might have seen this Mystery Critter or one of its cousins moving quickly across the forest floor or on a log. Celebrate National Public Lands Day today and get out there and enjoy the parks and trails near you and see what critters you can spot.

And don’t forget to let everyone know what you see! Join the Wildobs community and report your wildlife observations. It’s a great way to keep track of your wild adventures and share info with others.
