Song of Summer

Löwenzahn Nr. 3

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.  ~James Dent

Ah, summer. Hot, hazy days. Long-awaited vacations. Kids out of school. Lemonade stands and the sound of the ice cream man coming.  Life just wouldn’t be the same without it! Summer is the time of year when normally very grown-up people get in touch with their inner children and play like they mean it. Of course, TGSG here recommends doing that year-round, but I digress.

I thought it would be fun to take a poll to see what your favorite way to whittle away a summer’s day is. I will announce the results in the comments section and also on Twitter. Today, let’s just have some fun and turn our fancies to a perfect summer’s day. Maybe even have a glass of lemonade while you are pondering.

Now, pass the SPF and let’s get to it. Celebrate summer and your kid at heart! And remember, I will always give you a hall pass to go play outdoors, even if the lawnmower isn’t broken.  Your grass stains are waiting, kids…

  3. Woke the kids up with the Meatballs song “Are you ready for the summer? Are you ready for the good times?” We’ve still got four days left of school, but today is the last full day. I’m even letting them by the horrible, terrible, bad for you school lunch.

ROBIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am so jazzed by your Meatballs reference! Will counter with my personal fave from the movie:

“We are the CITs so pity us. The kids are brats, the food is hideous…”

As a former camper and camp counselor, Meatballs is one of my fave movies!

    Cheers- Bethe

  5. I just got a whole stack of new books to read. Lounging around with a good book, in a shady spot, with a cool drink sounds awfully good. I do have a backyard now and a deck. Just need to get a lounge chair I guess. I shall have to consider that.
