Frolic Friday: Rainy Day Edition

Playing With Water

No rain where you are this weekend? Um, that's why they made fountains!

Thats’ right — we did it, kids! We made it through the grown-up work week and the school week, for those actual biological children out there. We have more than earned some extra play time. So, let’s get to it. It’s Frolic Friday — let’s feast on fun and #playoutdoors.

It has been raining for three days here in Washington, DC. To honor this spring passage, I am dedicating this edition to rainy day fun. If it’s clear and/or sunny where you are this weekend, you should have plenty of inspiration from the always-beautiful Mother Nature to get you out there.

So, grab your slickers and let’s go! If it’s good enough for Paddington Bear, it’s good enough for me!

Why not…

  • Go for a hike in the woods! The tree canopy should protect you from some of the rain;
  • Make a birdbath for your yard and see how long the rain takes to fill it up;
  • Go puddle jumping! As my grandmother always said, “You are not sugar. You will not melt!”

As always, it doesn’t matter what you do. Just get outside and enjoy this beautiful planet. Relax. Have some fun. Use your outside voice. UNPLUG and reconnect with nature and yourself. Repeat daily.

And, because few things make me happier, I give you the adorable and beyond-talented, Gene Kelly. SWOON!

Now, if you will excuse me, there are some beautiful puddles with my name on them. Splash! Care to join me?
