What’s that you say?
You are ready to play?
You’ve had enough work,
you’ve earned your pay?
Play on, I say,
this and every day.
Nurture your kid at heart,
it’s the only way.
Well, lucky for you — it’s Frolic Friday once again! The time when we shake off the work and school week and get down to the serious business of playing outdoors. With the weekend before us, it’s time to relax and enjoy ourselves in nature’s playground. Unplug, get outside, kick off those shoes and reconnect with Mother Nature. She’s missed you!
Why Not…
- Go on a wildlife observation hike and count the number of critters you spot. Join Wildobs.com and record your findings;
- Go roller-blading, for a bike ride, or horseback riding; or
- Get together a group of family and friends for a softball, volleyball, or kickball game.
As always, it doesn’t matter what you do — just get outside and have some fun. Show the kids in your world what play is all about. Don’t forget to share your outdoor adventures with me! I love hearing about the fun you all get into!
Now, if you care to join me, I am going to pick dandelions with some three year-olds. We’ll make the most beautiful bouquet in a jelly jar that you have ever seen.

I think I’m going to garden this weekend. We may finally be over the freezes we’ve been having. Plus the flower bed needs cleaning out.

I need a Frolic Friday – Hotel Edition! Two little girls + tiny hotel room = mayhem! We’ve swam, we’ve done art projects, we’ve swam, we’ve had long-jumping contests, we’ve swam, we’ve made pillow forts (then we had a crazy long-jump-the-pillow-fort contest that ended badly) and we’ve swam!
