Huntley Meadows Park — TGSG’s Fave Local Green Space
I refuse to use the term homework, as it tends to be universally unpleasant to children and adults alike! Instead, here is your Unplugged Challenge for the weekend. Find a green space near you that you love. Make that LOVE.
Adopt it as your own. Share it with friends and family. Enjoy the sights, the sounds, and the smells the natural world has to offer. Get to know it across the seasons and watch it change. Notice how you feel there – what sticks with you, and what just falls away.
If kids are involved, look to see what they find interesting. Let them explore and ask questions, even the kind with no real answers. Discover together, play, and laugh. Also, notice how tired they are at night after a day spent playing outdoors. There is no additional charge for this benefit — an added freebie from the ever-thoughtful Mother Nature.
Take pictures. If you like, start a nature journal. Pack a picnic or just find a great place to relax and enjoy. Find a green space near you!
